The game features multiple race modes such as Supercross, Nationals, Free Ride, and Waypoint events, as well as a Career mode where players compete against AI to progress through events. Players can choose from over 60 professional riders or create and customize their own with gear from more than 80 licensed motocross brands. Encore offers updated HD graphics and audio, refined physics for more realistic bike and ATV control, and supports local split-screen and online multiplayer for up to 12 players.
